Nnach dem überwältigenden Erfolg der Debüt-EP "You're Welcome" melden sich die Lambrini Girls mit der neuen Single 'God's Country' zurück, die heute über City Slang veröffentlicht wird!
Das aus Brighton stammende Duo bestehend aus Phoebe Lunny (Gesang/Gitarre) und Lilly Macieira (Bass) sowie Schlagzeuger Banksy* haben sich durch unvergessliche Live-Auftritte einen Namen gemacht und wurden vom Variety Magazine, BBC Radio 1, NME, The Line Of Best Fit, KEXP, Consequence, Evening Standard, CLASH, So Young und kürzlich vom Kerrang! Magazine an der Seite von Sleater-Kinney in den Himmel gelobt und wurden für den Rolling Stone UK Rising Stars Award nominiert. Sogar Iggy Pop ist ein Fan.

"God's Country" wurde von Daniel Fox von der Gilla Band in den dunklen Dezembertagen aufgenommen. Für das Video filmten sie selbst mit ihrem Freund Jessie Morgan in der Nähe von London und wollten mit kontrastierenden Aussagen aufzeigen, wie verkorkst alles ist. Beispielsweise mit Aufnahmen vor dem Buckingham Palace und einer Aussage über die Armut in Großbritannien.
Über "God's Country" sagt die Band: “God's Country" is our long, overdue call-out of the government and rise of the far right. We wrote this a few months back, when the political landscape had evidently reached a global boiling point. Great Britain. Think colonial, shit-hole, chunk of land. Thriving off unhinged nationalism, fed to us by the right red hand of unelected prime ministers. Despite this, we have the audacity to call our country ‘Great’. So we ask you, ‘Are you sure?’ We could deep dive into inspirations and influences-but the songs about politics, not us. We hope the song speaks for itself. Rishi, Cameron, Cummings, Starmer -you’re all on our shit list.”
